Material Recycling
The word “recycling” has been diluted over the years and is often used to refer to less environmentally sound solutions like filling
operations and energy recovery. To qualify as proper recycling, the quality of the output products must be of a high enough quality to replace virgin raw materials.
A vulcanized tyre consists of three basic components: rubber, steel and fibre.
The proportional composition of these three components depends on the type of tyre. Industrial tyres (truck, bus, tractor, earth moving) contain more rubber and less fibre, than do passenger car tyres.
Present technology can separate ELTs into the above mentioned components and thus the whole tyre can be recycled.
The steel can be remelted in steel works and put to use in new steel products.
The rubber can be processed into many different grades, from fine powder to coarse granulate, depending on the purpose of the end product.
It is of utmost importance that the quality of the rubber powder and granulate is high. This means that the grains must be completely pure and uniform.
